TV unit with bookcase
This is a design project of a TV unit with open bookcase above the basement of an existing fireplace. During the apartment renovation, the owner came across to a problem: how to use an old fireplace which was not contemporary and useful anymore?
He asked us a new solution to convert this element into something more practice for the new living room. After some analysis, we understood the needs of the owner: something to host big TV and some shelves for books. We found the basement element very interesting so we decided to preserve and integrate into the new design; very simple and with a contemporary character. We demolished then the upper part of the fireplace which was not useful anymore and was taking lot of space.
The design of the tv unit and bookcase led us to the use of scratch-resistant lacquered MDF and waxed iron sheet. We decided to use the waxed iron to keep the shades and textures of the metal more vivid and natural. The cabinet is capable to accommodate TVs up to 60 “in size.
Under the shelves, without any interruption, we have included dimmable LEDs that allow better visual comfort. For instance, by adjusting the light, it is possible to create the right contrast and not strain the view while watching tv.
The project is the result of different solutions proposed to the client to be able to respect the budget. Above all without taking away the quality of the materials used chosen with the customer.
